The man who would change the world

It was on this day, in 1889, that the most notorious dictator and the orchestrator of the Holocaust was born. On April 20th, 1889, Klara Pozl had Adolf in Braunau am Inn, a town on the border of the Austro-Hungarian and German Empires. Hitler would go on to attempt to become a painter, but would not be accepted to any art schools. When the First World War broke out, Hitler was a dispatch runner, and was wounded several times. He was hospitalized, and when he was released, learned of the German capitulation and became bitter. Combined with his time in jail for his attempted Munich Putsch, he would grow very Anti Semitic as he grew older.

When the world markets collapsed in 1929, Germany was especially devastated. On top of the tremendous war reparations they owed to the victors of WWI, they now were even further in debt and were not able to end the poverty. German Marks became worthless, and they were not worth the paper they were printed on.

Hitler used this poor economic situation to spread his Anti Semitic views and begin to drag Germany down to his level. The country became a fascist dictatorship, with none other than Hitler himself in charge, and Jewish persecution became common, as did the fear of being executed without reason. Hitler would later invade Poland after a number of annexations and lead the world into a second major war. Despite his early conquests, his empire would slowly collapse, with the landings in France paving the way for democracy, while the mighty Russian army came charging from the East. Hitler was finished on April 30th, 1945, and Nazi Germany collapsed before the end of that very year.

Hitler was a horrible man, he murdered millions, and inflicted the worst genocide and war that the world has seen to date. With his death came a change in the world. The Americans and Soviets were suspicious of each other, and were enemies due to political ideology. The Nazi threat had united them for a brief period of time. With his death came a change to the world. The leftovers of the Nazi empire was carved up between the two superpowers, and the European continent, as well as the world, would stay divided in two for the next 35 years. Hitler's reign of terror upon Germany would affect the nation, leaving it split down the middle until 1989, when Germany was reborn as a democratic, united country.

This article is in no way meant to glorify this man, but remind us all about how much the world can change (for worse in this case) because of one man. We must remember to stand for the values our forefathers have died for so that we do not allow another man like this to rise again.
